Sporting Lokeren-Temse – The proud continuation of Lokeren’s football legacy

Sporting Lokeren-Temse represents the fusion of Lokeren’s historic football culture and the solid foundation of KSV Temse. The story dates back to the 1960s, when Racing Lokeren and Standard Lokeren – two clubs fluctuating between national and provincial divisions – decided to merge. In June 1970, Sporting Lokeren was officially founded with registration number 282, playing at Daknam Stadium. The club soon rose to the top tier of Belgian football, celebrating iconic moments such as a 2–1 home victory over FC Barcelona, a Belgian Cup final, several European appearances, and lifting the Belgian Cup in 2012 and 2014.

After many successful years, financial difficulties eventually led to bankruptcy in 2020—right when the club was meant to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Thanks to the dedication of loyal supporters and a strategic partnership with KSV Temse, a new chapter began on 22 April 2020 with the creation of Sporting Lokeren-Temse, now competing under registration number 4297.

KSV Temse, founded in 1945, built a strong reputation in the higher provincial divisions and later in the national competitions. The merger combined Sporting Lokeren’s tradition with Temse’s stability, forming a modern and ambitious club. In 2022, Sporting Lokeren-Temse became champions of the National Second Division, and today the team competes at the top of the National First Division.

With a complete archive of matches, goals, players, and statistics dating back to 1970, Sporting Lokeren-Temse remains one of the most iconic and respected clubs in the Lokeren region.
